Most people begin to think about starting something new in the Spring. It is like we are called to burst forth like the Spring blossoms. Whether you are motivated to begin a new eating regime or have a desire to do a Spring cleanse, the season is upon us.

Here are a few tips to keep you motivated and on track:
- Create a vision with your end goal in mind. Know why you want what you want. Write it down and post it where you can see it daily. Use pictures and words and spend some time allowing yourself to "feel" what it will be like when you reach your goal. Check your level of commitment to your vision each day.
- Be prepared. Have a plan and everything you need on hand—especially if you are changing your eating regime.
- Have your support systems in place. Know where to go when you need support, especially if you are stressed. Choose someone who will champion you along the way. Accountability to yourself is important and having a check-in partner will boost your staying power. Remember that when you are under stress, the need for immediate relief can take precedence over healthy behaviours. When your eating patterns and diet change and you're doing it totally on your own, it's easy to say 'Oh, this brownie won't count' or 'I've had a bad day and I deserve to eat this entire pizza.' When you know you have to check in with someone, it makes it easier to say no.
- Track your patterns and celebrate your progress. Keep a diary or journal and write down when you notice things that take you off track. Understanding your patterns and what triggers you to go off track is essential to making better choices. And most importantly, find some special way to celebrate yourself when you do stay on track!
